Frequently
Asked Questions
About Psychic Protection and
Psychic Experiences
Q: "How do I know if I am
psychic?"
The obvious answer, if you are having
strange dreams, visions, premonitions, is "Yes you are". So the
real, unasked question is often more complex. Hopefully the deeper
questions you are asking will be answered in the book.
Q: How do I "turn off" my
psychic experiences?
A: You may not be able to turn your
psychic experiences off,
but you can turn them down, get control over psychic abilities in time. Eventually, you
will come to see your experiences as a psychic ability, rather than a psychic curse. See the book
sections on, "Grounding", "Tools to Control Psychic
Growth" and "Psychic Protection & Other Meditation
Tips".
Q: How do I increase my control over
my psychic experiences?
A: It is also difficult to
"control" psychic experiences. Even the most gifted psychics
have off-days. The best way to improve your hit-miss ratio is to keep a
journal. Journal-keeping will help you sort out the real impressions and
be more accurate over time. See the Chapter "Tools to Control Psychic
Growth".
Q: Do you know of a good psychic fair
or bookstore in my area?
A: I can't recommend a particular psychic
fair or
bookstore unless it is in my area, and there are few where I live now.
Visit Google and enter the keywords
"psychic fair" along with your city's name, and I am sure you'll
get some hits.
Q: Can you do a psychic reading for me?
A: Sorry, no. I do not offer psychic
readings any longer. It is simply too stressful for me. As an empath who
is hyper-sensitive to other people's emotions, I have discovered that it
is counter-productive to my own wellness to do so. I also find it is
difficult to meet the expectations of certain people who feel that a
"psychic" should "read my mind" or "tell my
future". There is nothing wrong with entertainment, but I'd like to
focus primarily on the needs of those who want to understand themselves
and their abilities better.
I do offer intuitive consultations,
which are different from psychic readings in that they do not necessarily
focus on the "fortune telling" aspect of "psychic
readings". I look at where you are now and what steps you can
take to empower yourself, where your talents are, etc.
Q: I think my house is haunted - could
you come and clear it for me?
A: There are a growing number of
"ghost busting" services offered by psychics. I really believe
you can do this for yourself in most cases, and there is a brief outline
of the proper technique in the book.
Since "ghost busting" is a service whose
efficacy cannot be judged, I don't feel comfortable charging a set fee for
it. I will do such services for travel expenses and donations only - with
the amount of donation up to you. If you live in Hawaii the travel
expenses would be gift enough! <g>. Seriously, though - give the
exercises a try first. Email me if you don't find them helpful. They are
highly effective most of the time, even if you have no forma training in psychic
protection techniques.
Q: Do you know of a good psychic in my
area?
A: Probably not, because I network with
few psychics outside Canada, and I live in a rural area. I have a list of recommended
online psychics here. I do recommend before you book any reading, that
you read the "Finding a Good Psychic" section in the book, or this
article: "How
do I find a good psychic?"
Q: I think my child may be psychic,
how do I deal with this?
A: Be supportive, but don't make too big
a fuss. Make notes in a journal about your child's experiences (outside of
their sight). And see the section: "Dealing with
Psychic Children" in the book.
Q: Can I call you and talk to you on
the phone?
A: I prefer email for a number of reasons
- mainly because I can respond when I feel right, and because I absorb
less emotion through email than I do over the phone or in person. I can respond to
Blog questions for free because I do so at time permits, and because
the answers benefit a wide range of people. With the phone I have to
arrange to be at a certain number at a certain time and place, and that
takes a big bite out of my schedule. With private email, the answer helps
only one person - and I think it is fair to expect some kind of
contribution if you don't want others to see the answer. You can request a
private consultation here.
Q: Am I "crazy"?
Most likely not. You may be suffering
from physical or emotional distress - any frightening experience will
trigger physical and emotional distress. Being beset by unexpected visions
that come true, living in a culture where such things are taboo - that is stressful.
It is normal to feel afraid and to doubt the credibility of your senses at
first.
"Crazy" goes a step further
than merely believing you may be psychic. If you hear voices that tell you
to do bad things, if you believe that having these experiences puts you above the law
or gives you the right to dominate or control others ... then you may need help we can't provide
here.
Q: I am on anti-psychotic medication
or medication for depression - the doctor does not believe my experiences
are "real". Am I
psychic or just crazy?
A: I know a lot of psychic
people who have also struggled with depression and mental illness. Because
you have a diagnosis and are under a doctor's care does not mean that you
are not also psychic. Because you have some psychic ability does not
mean you cannot also suffer from depression or mental illness. I'm not
qualified to make that assessment.
But if it is some comfort ... if you are
worried about it, that's actually a good sign. It means you are capable of
questioning any potentially harmful or delusional thoughts. Stick with
your medical treatment. Stay open-minded and learn more about psychic
abilities at the same time. As you heal from one, you will improve the
other.
If you are seeing a doctor who is not supportive, and live in a
large enough city, look around for another doctor who is more sympathetic.
There are physicians and psychiatrists who do recognize the seriousness
and legitimacy of psychic experiences. You may not get the best of care
from someone with a closed, rigid mind-set, but you cannot abandon their
medical advice if they are the only source of professional medical care
you have.

ALWAYS
SEEK OUT THE CARE OF A QUALIFIED DOCTOR, NATUROPATH AND/OR
THERAPIST IN CONJUNCTION WITH ANY ALTERNATIVE THERAPIES OR
PRACTICES YOU UNDERTAKE.
|
Never abandon medical
advice. Simply seek out a second, third or fourth opinion if you must.
You may keep your ideas about the psychic origins of your symptoms to
yourself, but if you are experiencing dizziness, nausea, disassociation
(feeling like you are floating out of the body), headaches or other
physical signs, or are experiencing frightening emotional symptoms like
anxiety, paranoia, or indeed do hear voices (especially if they tell you
to do bad things), don't wait - see a doctor!
Above all, use your
common sense, and remember that even when two people seem to have
identical experiences, the underlying causes may be different. One person
may indeed be psychic, one may have a drug or alcohol problem, and the
other may have epilepsy or some other organic or systemic disease. Just
because some of the root causes of your experiences are physical does not
mean there is not also a psychic component. The two often work hand-in-hand. If you
do not have a doctor you can be open with, consider looking for a
naturopath or therapist in local "New-Age" or alternative
magazines.
